Free trade with Chile is making great gains, he said.
He asked for patience in attempts to establish an agreement with Colombia, which has been blocked by the Liberal and NDP opposition over complaints of human rights abuses.
He said the government believes that building trade relations will help Colombia create the necessary prosperity to enhance security and improve rights for its citizens.
