Hey Brian
I think that this item needs a little clarification. I posted the one about the temp workers rights meeting at ITML and suprisingly it is still up. If this "journey" would be a good thing for temps then I'm sure that the hundreds of temps at ITML would appreciate knowing more!

Hello Dave

Regard the Temporary Workers Rights Meeting. This is the time for temp workers to ask questions and for those who have friends, relatives or Coworkers being exploited by the Agencies to speak up. Temp workers shouldn't miss this opportunity.

WIth regards to the Journey For Jobs, the Brantford District Labour Council has made the first mention of the temp trap and therefore, temporary workers are on the agenda for the Journey For Jobs.

We have two opportunities here.

1) To speak about the Temp Agencies, their practices, and the changes to the Employment Standards act, on June the 4th, there will be the proper people able to answer questions. There are a myriad of temp ripoff activities and that are illegal. At the forum in Cambridge, I got to hear a whole slew of new scams to take workers money.

2) For the Journey for Jobs, people will be gathering and telling their stories. This will be covering all bases of unemployment, precarious work, and obviously, the temp trap.

People are expecting the temp worker to become an issue when the caravan hits Brantford.

Will know how much the temp workers want to become engaged when the forum starts on the 4th.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Agencies and some employees who will say nice things about the agencies.

I saw that in Toronto, I hope that real temp workers, the majority that are being taken to the cleaners speak out both on June the 4th and June 22nd.

To save confusion, you might want to post the Journey for Jobs after the 4th.... We will be handing out those flyers at the temp agency forum as well.

Good to know you are on top of things.

Brian
